I hope you guys have had a great start to the new year.(I seriously cannot believe we are going into February already! Where has the time gone?!) For over the past year I have been using the No7 Beautiful Skin Night Cream for normal/dry skin for my moisturizer. I absolutely loved it but found after a while it just wasn't doing the trick anymore. My skin seems to be drier since I had my daughter and I feel sometimes you need to change things up because they tend to stop working after a while, kind of like an exercise. You're eventually going to plateau so you need to change it up. So, I was doing some research trying to find an affordable moisturizer that I can get close by. (The closest Sephora is about a 45 minute - 1 hour drive.) I wanted something I could get at a Shoppers Drug Mart or Walmart, etc. I came across quite a few positive reviews about CeraVe. I loved that I can purchase it at Walmart and it's super affordable! To start I purchased the smaller squeeze tube (57g) for $7.47, that way I could test it out and if it sucked I wasn't going to end up with a large jar of unusable cream. (We all are guilty of purchasing creams/lotions and then moving onto the next one before fully using a jar, taking up precious space in our bathrooms.) As soon as I squeezed a dime sized amount onto my finger and massaged it onto my skin I knew I was going to love it. It is a thicker cream but isn't heavy and doesn't leave a greasy feeling on your skin afterwards, it soaks in like a dream! It also has ceramides and hyaluronic acid as part of it's ingredients. Ceramides are lipid molecules that are found in cell membranes, they hold skin together and form a protective layer that plumps up the skin and helps to retain moisture. In skincare products these are used to help restore the lipids that are drained from our skin from things such as pollution, use of drying products (makeup for example) and also aging. Introducing ceramides helps to retain skin's moisture, and protects it from the harsh elements of our everyday environment. Hyaluronic acid is natural element found in our bodies that generates cell renewal, lubricates our connective tissues and supports skin moisture and elasticity. When used as a topical ingredient it can aid in creating a moisture barrier on our skin, making it look smoother. Hyaluronic acid also can hold up to 1000 times it's moisture, making it a great friend for my dry skin. I find that it holds the moisture throughout the day and doesn't seem cakey under my makeup (another HUGE bonus!) I also have sensitive skin and CeraVe doesn't make me break out, I think that may be partly because there is absolutely no scent. I am a sucker for lovely smelling products but find they irritate my skin, so I am willing to let that go for a better result on my skin.
Needless to say, there are great benefits to this moisturizer! I have only been using it for a few weeks but I have already purchased the larger tub ($19.97 at Walmart for 453g, a fantastic deal!) and plan to continue using this every morning and evening as part of my skincare regimen. Thanks for reading and I'll chat with you next week.
Sending you love and light!
